Intros & Animations
Difference between Intro Animation & Animation
Intro Animation and Animation use the same Timeline Editor and look very similar in the Content Details panel.
Any Animation can be used as an Intro Animation, but only one Intro Animation can exist per Space. To make an Animation the Intro sequence for your Space, enable Autoplay in the Content Details.
| Feature | Intro Animation | Animation |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Presents your Space when visitors enter | Brings your Space to life with motion and effects |
| Preview | Can be used to generate an Explore preview | No preview outside the Space |
| Allowed instances | 1 per Space | Unlimited |
| Trigger | Plays automatically | Can autoplay after the Intro, or be triggered (button, zone entry, etc.) |
Creators can skip the Intro Animation at any time by pressing ESC or by tapping the video to reveal the Skip button.
Creating an Intro Animation
You can create an Intro Animation in two ways:
1 Edit Space > Create Intro Animation
2 Action Button > Animation
Both options open the same Animation workflow. The main difference is that Edit Space > Create Intro Animation already enables Autoplay and adds a Camera entity by default.
As soon as a Camera is part of the sequence, the editor switches to Free Cam Mode, regardless of which entity you are currently animating.
Content Details Settings
In Content Details, you configure the general behavior of the selected Animation.
1Target Entities
Target Entities are movable assets that can be animated in the Timeline. Click to add entities from the available list. Click to remove an entity from the Animation.
| Entity Type | Animatable Attributes | How to animate |
|---|---|---|
| Annotation | Position | Gizmo |
| Camera | Position, Rotation, FOV, Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Sharpness, Scale | Movement in Free Cam Mode + attributes |
| Dynamic Gates | Position, Rotation | Gizmo |
| Gaussian Splats | Position, Rotation, Scale | Gizmo |
| Meshes | Position, Rotation, Scale | Gizmo |
| Plane Images | Position, Rotation, Scale | Gizmo |
| Plane Videos | Position, Rotation, Scale | Gizmo |
| Sound Entity | Position, Rotation, Volume | Gizmo |
| Vibes | Position, Rotation | Gizmo |
2 Edit Sequence
Opens the Timeline Editor (Sequence Editor).
3 Autoplay
When enabled, this Animation is used as the Intro Animation.
4 Advanced Animation Settings
Seamless In and Out
Creates a smoother transition back to the Camera. This is especially recommended for Intro Animations or any Animation that uses the Camera.
Loop
Available for regular Animations only. The Animation keeps playing continuously.
Reverse
Plays the Animation in reverse.
Trigger with Position
Lets you place a trigger box in your Space. The Animation starts when a visitor enters this area.
Next Animation
Chains multiple Animations. When one Animation ends, the next one starts automatically.
Cutscene Timeline Editor Interface
1 Playback Controls
This section provides controls to preview and manage your Cutscene. You can play or pause the sequence, navigate between Keyframes, and modify them directly.
Playback the IntroStarts or pauses playback of the Intro sequence.
Previous KeyframeJumps to the previous Keyframe in the Timeline.
Add KeyframeAdds a new Keyframe at the current Frame position. You can also press I to quickly insert a Keyframe.
DeleteDeletes the currently selected Keyframe. The selected Keyframe is highlighted in orange .
Next KeyframeJumps to the next Keyframe in the Timeline.
2 Timeline Settings
In this section, you can configure general Timeline settings.
The Frame display shows the exact Frame you are currently on. Using Speed, you can adjust the playback rate of your sequence, allowing you to speed it up or slow it down. The dropdown menu lets you switch between defining the Timeline in Frames or seconds.
The Render button allows you to export your Cutscene as a video. After clicking it, an additional submenu opens where you can configure various video settings, including format (WebM or MP4), codec, FPS, and bitrate.
3 Entity Properties
The highlighted (white) property indicates the currently active track. Multiple properties can be adjusted and animated simultaneously using the controls above.
Whenever a value is changed in the top panel, a Keyframe is automatically created for that property in the Timeline.
Select the target Keyframe first (move the red line), then change values. Otherwise, you may overwrite the Animation at that Keyframe.
4 Timeline & Keyframes
This is the main Timeline area where Frames are displayed horizontally. Keyframes appear along the tracks and define how values change over time. You can move, adjust, or delete Keyframes to control the Animation.
The current position in the Timeline is indicated by a red vertical line. You can also click and drag across the Timeline to select a specific Frame range.
Keyboard & Mouse Controls
- ← or → - Move the selected Keyframe Frame by Frame
- Shift + ← / → - Jump to the previous or next Keyframe
- Shift + Mouse: Drag Left/Right - Navigate horizontally through the Timeline
- Ctrl + Mouse: Scroll - Zoom in or out of the Timeline
- Backspace / Del - Remove the selected Keyframe
A Keyframe marks a specific point in time where a value is set.
It defines how a property (such as position, rotation, or brightness) should look at that exact Frame. The Animation between Keyframes is automatically interpolated.
Import & Export Sequences
The File option allows you to save and reuse your Animation setups.
- Export: Saves the current Timeline sequence as a file. This can be used as a backup or reused in other Spaces.
- Import: Loads a previously saved sequence into the Timeline. This allows you to quickly reuse predefined Animations across different Spaces.
This workflow is especially useful when maintaining consistent Intros or Animations across multiple Spaces.
