Cutscene
The Cutscene feature allows you to create intro sequences for your space. This sequence is automatically played before a creator enters the room. Creators can skip the cutscene at any time by pressing ESC.
The intro can be enabled or disabled at any time via Space Edit → General → Toggle Intro Cutscene.
Opening Cutscene Timeline Editor
The Intro Cutscene UI is located within the Action submenu. Use the Action button in the lower right corner to open the submenu 1. Then select 2 Intro to open the Cutscene Timeline Editor.
Once opened, you will be in free camera mode.
Cutscene Timeline Editor Interface
1 Playback Controls
This section provides controls to preview and manage your cutscene. You can play or pause the sequence, navigate between keyframes, and modify them directly.
Playback the IntroStarts or pauses playback of the intro sequence.
Previous KeyframeJumps to the previous keyframe in the timeline.
Add KeyframeAdds a new keyframe at the current frame position. You can also press I to quickly insert a keyframe.
DeleteDeletes the currently selected keyframe. The selected keyframe is highlighted in orange .
Next KeyframeJumps to the next keyframe in the timeline.
2 Timeline Settings
In this section, you can configure general timeline settings.
The Frame display shows the exact frame you are currently on. Using Speed, you can adjust the playback rate of your sequence, allowing you to speed it up or slow it down. The dropdown menu lets you switch between defining the timeline in frames or seconds.
The Render button allows you to export your cutscene as a video. After clicking it, an additional submenu opens where you can configure various video settings, including format (WebM or MP4), codec, FPS, and bitrate.
3 Animatable Properties
These are the currently available properties that can be animated.
Transform controls the camera movement, including its position and rotation.
FOV defines the camera’s field of view.
Brightness, Contrast, and Saturation allow you to visually enhance the scene for the final video output.
The highlighted (white) property indicates the currently active track. Multiple properties can be adjusted and animated simultaneously using the controls above.
Whenever a value is changed in the top panel, a keyframe is automatically created for that property in the timeline.
4 Timeline & Keyframes
This is the main timeline area where frames are displayed horizontally. Keyframes appear along the tracks and define how values change over time. You can move, adjust, or delete keyframes to control the animation.
The current position in the timeline is indicated by a red vertical line. You can also click and drag across the timeline to select a specific range of frames.
Keyboard & Mouse Controls
- ← or → – Move the selected keyframe frame by frame
- Shift + ← / → – Jump to the previous or next keyframe
- Shift + Mouse: Drag Left/Right – Navigate horizontally through the timeline
- Ctrl + Mouse: Scroll – Zoom in or out of the timeline
- Backspace / Del – Remove the selected keyframe
A keyframe marks a specific point in time where a value is set.
It defines how a property (such as position, rotation, or brightness) should look at that exact frame. The animation between keyframes is automatically interpolated.
Creating Intros
Once you open the editor, you will be in free camera mode. Any camera movement is automatically applied to the Transform property.
To create an animation, start by selecting a frame in the timeline. This can be done either by clicking directly into the timeline or by adjusting the exact frame using the Frame Settings (see Timeline Settings).
After selecting the desired frame, move the camera to the position you want to capture. Once the position is set, click or press I to create a keyframe.
Repeat this process by selecting another frame, adjusting the camera, and placing a new keyframe. This sequence of keyframes will form your animation.
Settings such as FOV, Brightness, Contrast, and Saturation can be adjusted alongside the camera and are stored within the same keyframe.
Import & Export Sequences
The File option allows you to save and reuse your cutscene setups.
- Export: Saves the current timeline sequence as a file. This can be used as a backup or reused in other spaces.
- Import: Loads a previously saved sequence into the timeline. This allows you to quickly reuse predefined animations across different spaces.
This workflow is especially useful when maintaining consistent intros across multiple spaces.
